Access Control

For each page added to a channel, it is possible to aggregate groups and users that will be able to access it and grant permissions to each of them.

There are two ways to check the access control of a page:

• In the browser, right-click on the page and select the option Control Access;

Or

• In the channel's administrative area, select a page and then Control Access.

The possible access permissions for a page are: manage, layout, and view pages, as well as manage its security.  However, if the option Inherit Access Control is enabled, the access control for the inherited groups and users will be inherited from the channel, allowing only the denial of permissions to them. Regardless of inheritance, it is possible  to assign and deny permissions to users and groups added in the page's access control. By default, users and groups added to the access control have permission to “view page,” which can be denied as needed.

The previous figure is an example of access control for a "Administration" page, where the group "Portal Administrators" was inherited from the channel. Since the option "Inherit Access Control" is enabled, it is not possible to assign permissions to this group, but it is possible to deny them. Permissions can be assigned or denied to the added groups, "Publishers" and "Developers" regardless of inheritance. Furthermore, by default, these last two groups have permission to “view page.”
