Channel Management
The channel is an organizational unit that defines a group of sub-channels without limitation on the number of levels, pages, and services. The channel can represent a complete portal solution or sub-areas of a portal. For example, in an Intranet site, the channels can represent the different departments of the company or different work teams.
Conceptually, the channel can also be seen as a space that allows the availability of services and information to a select group of users, defined by access control.
From channel management, one can manage sub-channels, pages, services, channel templates, and page templates. These will be addressed next.
Portal Channel
The Portal Channel is automatically created at the time of product installation to represent the top of the channel hierarchy and to allow the administration of the portal as a whole, accessible only through the browser.
Channel URL
When a URL points to a channel, instead of a page, and this channel has many pages, LumisXP selects one of them as default. Normally, it is the first page in the list ordered by the properties position and name of the page. In some databases, the ordering by page name may vary. In this case, it is advisable to always use the "position" property, with the smallest value being the first in the list. Check the section page properties for information about the "Position" field.
