General
When creating a channel:
When editing a channel:
- Name: The name of the channel that will appear in the browser and in the administrative area. The name can be of a service that the portal supports (administrative purpose of the channel) or correspond to sectors of a company (departments, clients, sales, regions, products, etc.);
- Position: The position refers to the absolute location of the channel in the browser and the Navigation Bar. The default value is 0 (zero). If multiple channels assume position zero, they will be sorted in ascending alphabetical order;
- Hidden:This property is related to the Navigation Bar Service of Lumis in which it is possible to determine whether the channel will visibly compose or not the navigation bar of the portal. This option should be used for channels that should only be accessed via links from other channels. The fact that this property is checked does not hide the channel in the browser;
- Apply Template (This property is only visible when creating the channel):It is possible to choose a template for the channel that is being created. In this way, all the properties used by the template and the structure built from it will be passed to the channel that has such a template applied. Once created, the channel can undergo changes that are not passed back to the template. The opposite is allowed, as will be seen in the section about channel templates. To dissociate the template from the channel, just click on the "x" to delete;
- Import Pre-defined Channel (This property is only visible when creating the channel):Allows the channel being created to take on the structure of a pre-defined channel after importing a definition file with the .lec extension. A pre-defined channel has the channel instantiated with one of the services, also has pages instantiated with the necessary interfaces. Each page also comes with selected properties, such as page name and whether they will be hidden or not in the navigation bar.
To import a file that contains a specific pre-defined service, simply select the arrow next to the “Import Pre-defined Channel” field and choose one of the services.
Check the structure created in the browser. There is nothing to prevent you from applying more properties to this structure, such as renaming channels, pages, and interfaces.
The pre-defined files are located in the directory of the respective service that represents it.
- Copy from channel (This property is only visible when creating the channel): Allows creating a channel from the structure of channels, pages, services, and access control of another channel. However, the properties of the channel are not copied as they may be overwritten.
The main difference between using a template and copying a channel is that any change made to the original template can be automatically passed on to the channels that use it, while copying a channel means that subsequent changes made to the original channel will not be reflected in its copies.
If the channel to be copied (or any channel in its tree) has local groups enabled, the corresponding created channel will have a random prefix for users and local groups.
- Move to (This property is only visible when editing the channel):Allows moving the channel in the hierarchical structure of the browser to link it to another channel. When clicking the arrow next to the field, a window will open where it is possible to choose the “parent” of the channel, which is not its child. The structure of channels in the browser is then rearranged;
